Today In History: How Queen Elizabeth 1 Died Exactly 18Years Ago

On 30 March 2002,precisely 18 years ago,  Queen Elizabeth I the mother of the present Queen of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II died.

Born Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon on 4 August 1900,  She became the Queen of the United Kingdom in 1936 when her husband,Prince Albert was crowned King to become King George VI.

In 1926, their first daughter, Princess Elizabeth was born and she later became Queen Elizabeth the present Queen of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth nations.

She became the Queen Mother shortly after the death of her husband and the coronation of her daughter, Queen Elizabeth II.

On 30 March 2002 at about 3:15 P.M, she reportedly died in her sleep at the Royal Lodge, Windsor Great Park at the ripe age of 101. It was gathered that prior to her death, she had been suffering from a cold for the previous four months. She was buried on April 9,2002 in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
